Employment Law
Employment law governs the relationship between the employer and the employee. One key area of employment law is the enforcement of the rights and obligations between the employer and the employee. Many of the rights and obligations are outlined in the Labour Standards Act and we typically get involved in the resolution of disputes involving this legislation. Employment law also deals with the rights and obligations of the parties derived from the common law, which often creates further rights and obligations not specifically spoken to by statute.

This area of practice is extremely broad and involves matters such as negotiating and drafting individual contracts of employment, advising clients on all aspects of the terms, conditions, rights and obligations of their employment, conducting wrongful dismissal claims, drafting employment policies for the workplace, and advising clients on human rights matter, occupational health and safety, and injury or disability claims in the workplace.
